Fees and Accommodations

We want the PREE Writing Studio to be accessible to as many writers as possible, so we’ve structured our pricing with that in mind.

  • If you’re able to pay in full, the price is US$1,000 (JM$160,000).
  • For Caribbean residents, or if you’re coming from elsewhere and money is tight, we ask US$750 (JM$120,000) โ€” we trust you to know which applies to you.
  • We also have a limited number of scholarship spots for those who need more support.

Instructions on how you can make your payment will be provided shortly.

Please note that these prices do not include accommodation. You will need to book your own accommodation for your stay, though we are happy to provide suggestions.

We’re also happy to talk through a sliding scale price if the above numbers still feel out of reach, but you’re still able to contribute something. We’d rather find a way to make it work than have you not come at all!

If you’re planning on attending this year’s writing studio, you can register via our Submittable portal here. We can’t wait to have you!

Accommodation Options

While we will not be providing accommodations this time around, we did want to share some options to make it easier for you to find the perfect stay.

Hotels

S Hotel

Our recommendation is the S Hotel in New Kingston. They are offering a reduced rate of US$169 per room (not including taxes) for those attending PREE Writing Studio 2026. Please email the Manager Joseph Perrin <jperrin@shotelkingston.com> to secure this rate with your arrival and departure dates and a contact number.

Other good hotels in the vicinity are the Courtleigh Hotel & Suites, The Liguanea Club, AC Marriott, and The Jamaica Pegasus.

On Campus

138 Student Living has rooms available in student dorms. These are conveniently
located on campus, which is where the Writing Studio sessions are held. The Gerard Lalor rooms are good if you can get them.

Cheaper student housing is also available as per the rate sheet. Find out more about summer accommodation and the different halls of residence on UWI’s website.

We suggest avoiding the Rex Nettleford Hall as it is the farthest from the Faculty of Humanities and Education where our sessions are held.

You can find the short-stay application form here.

Airbnb

We’ve curated a selection of Airbnb options. These were selected based on reviews and location, we have not actually stayed at any of them ourselves.

Hostels

Ragamuffin Hostel on Lady Musgrave Road is a centrally located option, not too far from UWI campus.
